About This Project

The Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) Training Video Series was developed by the Preference Based Living team to help long-term care organizations strengthen their approach to person-centered quality improvement.

The series follows a QAPI team through the process of developing a Performance Improvement Project (PIP), from identifying a meaningful improvement opportunity and building an interdisciplinary team to developing measurable goals, monitoring progress, and communicating change across the organization.

Throughout the training, a PAL Card PIP is used as a practical example of how QAPI can improve the communication and use of resident preferences. The example demonstrates how information about what matters to residents can move beyond documentation and become part of everyday practice across departments, shifts, and care teams.

The training is designed for interdisciplinary long-term care teams, including administrators, nurses, social workers, activity and life enrichment professionals, direct care staff, and other team members involved in improving resident quality of life.

This course is offered through the Scripps Aging Hub at Miami University’s Scripps Gerontology Center to support the translation of evidence-informed, person-centered practices into everyday long-term care.
